The Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata, India was founded in 1989 by Prof. (Dr) Satyajit Chakrabarti and is the oldest private institution of higher education in West Bengal, India. Since then it has grown from strength to strength, and expanded to include the University of Engineering & Management, Jaipur and the University of Engineering & Management,Kolkata, India. The IEM/UEM Group now has about 9000 students on its rolls, primarily in the engineering and management fields. It has an enviable placement record, and its alumni have made a mark for themselves in major companies in India and abroad.
The Institute of Engineering & Management, Kolkata, India (IEM), affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology, West Bengal (now known as Maulana Abul Kalam University of Technology), is an AICTE approved institution. IEM has been ranked in the Category ‘A’ in 2017 by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC). The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has placed IEM in the rank band 101-150 for the years 2017 and 2018. IEM conducts both engineering and management courses, and has earned a reputation for the quality of its teaching and student placement in reputed companies in India. It has received numerous awards as an educational institution of excellence.
Due to its illustrious track record IEM received an invitation from the Government of Rajasthan to start a high quality technical University in Rajasthan. University of Engineering & Management, Jaipur (UEM, Jaipur) was established in the year 2011 by an Act of the Government of Rajasthan. UEM, Jaipur has received the award of ‘Best Emerging University in North India’. University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata was established in the year 2014 by an Act of Government of West Bengal and has already made a name for itself in a short time.
